As for West Indies, they touched down on September 23 but still haven’t stepped onto the practice ground – a curious bit of preparation with the first ODI (ind vs wi) just around the corner.

ind vs wi : It’s been a long time coming for the Caribbean side. The last time they won an ODI series on Indian soil was back in 2002, under Carl Hooper’s captaincy, with names like Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Marlon Samuels doing the heavy lifting.
Fast forward to now, and head coach Daren Sammy thinks this current group has a genuine shot at rewriting that history when the three-match series kicks off Sunday against Gill’s India.
“We have not won a series here in India for 24 years. As a team, it is a great opportunity for us to come here and challenge ourselves,” Sammy said ahead of the opener.
He didn’t stop there, framing the series as something of a litmus test for where his team actually stands in the 50-over format right now. “With the players we have, it is a great opportunity for us to perform well against India and try to win a series, something we have not done for 24 years,” he added.
