Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli’s ‘star power’ was seen inside and outside the Arun Jaitley Stadium where thousands of spectators gathered to watch him play in the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways. Kohli is playing a Ranji Trophy match after 12 years. DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) had estimated the arrival of about 10000 spectators in Kohli’s comeback match, which is a record in Ranji Trophy matches. Kohli’s magic is such that all the speculations were proved wrong and a much larger number of people came.

Virat kohli Ranji Trophy :The game was to start at 9:30 am on Thursday and queues of spectators had started forming much before that. DDCA first opened the 6000 capacity Gautam Gambhir stand, but in view of the crowd, the 14000 capacity Bishan Singh Bedi stand had to be opened. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was also passing through the same place, who had gone to Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.

DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma said, ‘I have been associated with Delhi cricket for more than 30 years, but I have never seen such a sight in a Ranji Trophy match. This proves that Kohli’s popularity is unmatched.’ He said, ‘This became even more challenging because the spectators were coming to the stadium at the same time when there was VIP movement of Prime Minister Modi outside. After strict protocols and instructions from the police, we had to open another stand for the public.’

Virat kohli Ranji Trophy :After the Gautam Gambhir stand was filled to the brim, the lower part of the Bishan Singh Bedi Stadium also got completely filled. More than 12000 spectators were on the field at the time of the toss. The chants of ‘Kohli Kohli’ could be heard from a distance when the former captain of India entered the field with his Delhi teammates. Kohli was fielding at second slip and people were clapping for his every movement. In the 12th over, an overexcited spectator broke the security cordon and ran towards him and touched his feet. Later, the security personnel took him out.
