R Ashwin leaves behind an illustrious legacy with numerous records to his name. He ranks seventh among the highest wicket-takers in Test cricket, having claimed 537 wickets in 106 matches. His best bowling figures stand at an impressive 7/59, achieved at an average of 24.00 and a strike rate of 50.73. Ashwin is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Tests, trailing only Anil Kumble, who amassed 619 wickets. Notably, Ashwin has never missed a home Test match since his debut, making his retirement all the more surprising.
Leading in Five-Wicket Hauls
Ashwin holds the record for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian bowler, with 37 such performances in Tests. This places him ahead of Kumble, who has 35 five-wicket hauls.
