IPL 2026 : Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans have received a major boost ahead of the IPL 2026 season. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the expert committee appointed by the state government has granted approval to host IPL matches at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB is scheduled to play five of its home matches at Chinnaswamy, while the team will play two fixtures in Raipur. The 19th season of the IPL is set to commence on March 28, with defending champions RCB facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match.

Essentially, RCB claimed their maiden IPL title during the previous season.
RCB fans celebrated this historic victory with great fanfare, and the team was accorded a grand reception upon their arrival in Bengaluru with the trophy.
The state government first felicitated the team, following which the RCB players were honored by the KSCA at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
However, even before the team’s arrival, a stampede broke out outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and in a tragic turn of events, the celebrations quickly turned into mourning.
The stampede, which occurred on June 4, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 11 people and left several others injured.

Officials from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) met on Friday with the expert committee constituted by the state government. During the meeting, they presented a detailed report on the security measures being implemented at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of the upcoming IPL season. In addition to hosting the season’s opening match, the RCB team will also hold its opening ceremony at this venue. RCB is scheduled to play five home matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium this season, while the remaining two matches will be played in Raipur. Representatives from RCB and its associated operational agencies also presented their preparations and operational plans to ensure the smooth and organized conduct of the upcoming IPL matches.

IPL 2026 : Chinnaswamy to Host the Final Match
A meeting was held on Monday involving KSCA officials, RCB’s top management, and members of the expert committee chaired by G. Maheshwar Rao, following which final approval was granted. Five of RCB’s home matches will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, while the remaining two matches will take place at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Stadium in Raipur. This arrangement is in accordance with a prior agreement established between the franchise and the Government of Chhattisgarh.

Furthermore, in accordance with IPL regulations, the Chinnaswamy Stadium will also host the final match. Although the complete IPL schedule has not yet been officially announced, it has been confirmed that RCB’s matches will be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the IPL schedule, it explicitly stated that the hosting of matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium would be contingent upon government approval.
